About us
First Church of Christ, Scientist Nairobi is one of many branch churches of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, USA (also referred to as The Mother Church). Records at the Mary Baker Eddy Library at The Mother Church reveal that Christian Science services were first held in Kenya prior to the First World War. Services were held monthly from 1915 in the homes of two Christian Scientists. In 1932 their number had increased enough to qualify as a branch church. They thus applied to The Mother Church as a Christian Science Society. In 1934 the Society hosted a very successful Christian Science lecture. Through prayer and dedication, the Society grow rapidly. In November 1948 the Society built the present edifice on Nyerere Road in Nairobi. In May 1953 the society was recognized as a full branch church, of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts

Because of its timeless spiritual message, the Pastor is a powerful preacher at all Christian Science worship services. On Sundays, a Bible Lesson-Sermon of passages from these books is presented by Readers. Wednesday services include topical readings from the Pastor and time for congregants to share how it has illumined their inseparable relationship with God and brought about healing through prayer. First Church of Christ, Scientist, Nairobi, provides a Sunday School service at the same time as the Sunday service. Children and teenagers, up to the age of 20, are welcome to Sunday School. Students learn about God as Love, and more about their relationship with Him. Students and their teachers explore the Scriptures and learn about Bible stories. They also study Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy. Bible Lessons consist of the Ten Commandments, The Lord’s Prayer and its Spiritual interpretation by Mary Baker Eddy, the Sermon on the Mount (including the Beatitudes),
Thanksgiving Service

The Thanksgiving service is held on the second Thursday in December from 5:30 pm. This is a hybrid service. You are invited to attend in person or over Zoom. The zoom link will be provided several days before the service.
